Avie was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in Business Administration.  Avie then went on and got his masters in Human Resources at George Washington University. Avie and his wife Sara have 3 beautiful children- Chani (age 11), Rami (age 9) and Racheli (age 3). The Friederwitzer family lives in South Florida and has been for over 12 years. Avie has been in the food service industry for over 25 years and has spent the last three and a half years as Director of Food Service for the second largest day school in the country. Avie is also Masgiach with the Orthodox Rabbinical Board of Broward and Palm Beach Counties (O.R.B). Avie holds a Kashrut Certification and was the original Masgiach when UF Hillel opened its current building four years ago. He is happy to be back at UF Hillel! Avie is looking forward to working with students and the community to fill all their Kosher Food Service needs.

Alyssa is in her senior year at the University of Florida, pursuing a degree in Sociology with a minor in Mass Communications. Alyssa loves music, all things culinary, and watching TV (The Office, LOST, & Barefoot Contessa are her favorites!). After graduating in May, she hopes to continue working in the restaurant business, and to one day own her own restaurant.

Hila is a graduate student in the University of Florida and the president of Israeli Student Organization on campus. She is currently completing her last semester in the Fisher School of Accounting for her masters.




Cynthia Apfelbaum

Cynthia grew up in Argentina, where she had the opportunity to experience her parents' business up close. After spending her teen years in the Tampa Bay area, she moved to Gainesville to become an official Gator, where she's finishing up her degree in Advertising with a minor in Organizational Leadership for Nonprofits, and an outside Concentration in Recreation, Tourism and Event Planning. With her creativity, computer and communication skills, she gets the job done and provides our clients better service.

Kristina Francisco - Sous Chef

Kristina Francisco is a student at the University of Florida studying Communication and Leadership Development. She learned the art of sushi rolling from her Kuya (older brother), who was also a sushi chef in college.
